The House-Hunting
Trip
By Mary Ann

You’ve selected the practice
that seems right for you and your family, and relocation time is
quickly approaching; therefore, you must now turn your thoughts
to the awesome task of finding a suitable home. The first
undertaking, of course, is to locate a reputable realtor, and
your most likely source for finding one is probably going to be
through the group that you are joining. Next, you will need to
describe to your realtor, in detail, those features that are
important to you, so that he/she can be prepared to show you
those properties that are most likely to meet your expectations
when you make your house-hunting trip.
Upon arrival, there will be
an endless amount of detail to retain as you view numerous homes
within a very limited timeframe. The chart that follows is
designed to help you maintain all such detail, easing much of
the anxiety associated with this exhaustive endeavor. Look it
over carefully before you set out on your trip. Take several
copies with you, so that you will have a sufficient supply for
the number of homes that you will view. You might even want to
take pictures of the homes, mark them appropriately, and attach
them to your chart for future reference. If you find that
features you consider important are not listed, simply add them
to the chart. By the time you return home, after viewing
numerous properties, this information will be invaluable. This
simple record keeping method will help keep the detail of each
structure clear in your mind, enabling you to converse
confidently and accurately with your realtor.
